The Creator’s Retreat is a one day retreat to deep-dive into your creative project.

We all have this great idea in our head but often we simpy lack the time. Time is one of the greatest obstacles that stops us from creating. We all have a lot of ideas what to create or what to learn:

  • Writing a book, blogpost or your doctor / master thesis

  • Creating a great visual, logo or illustration

  • Building a website, app or mockup

  • Refining your ideas and business model

  • Learning a new skill such as hand-lettering, logo design or animation.

  • Acquiring knowledge you need for your project or simply reading a book.

  • Exploring, experimenting, playing

Here is what we offer: one whole day with inspiring people and space to focus on creating things.

No matter if you work on a project, your side-job or learn a new skill. We’ll create the right setting and an energizing working experience to get your creation to the next level.

Community Workout

January, 14, 2019, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Workout@2x.png

The Community Workout are our “classics”. They are all about training your 'idea muscle' (aka your brain). Being confident in generating ideas will help you with being creative in everyday life.

These sessions are relaxed and easygoing, much fun, yet you’ll train creativity, design skills & idea muscle. The only thing you need is your favorite pen.

The Goal

In this format we focus on one idea generation technique and practice it with a few simple exercises. By the end of the workout, you will have generated a double-digit number of ideas (alone and with others) and learned about how you can implement those techniques into your daily routine.

The workouts are also for chatting about our projects and creative endeavors in our everyday life.

The Rundown

(60 minutes workout + 30 minutes community meet'n'greet):

  • Intro (15 minutes) - Don't be late or you won't hear who participates

  • Warm-up exercise (10 minutes)

  • Workout, workout, workout (40 minutes)

  • Wrap-up (10 minutes)

  • Cool-down aka. chatting over a drink (30 minutes or more)

Who should join

Join us if you want to:

  • meet like minded people

  • regain creative confidence and learn design tools

  • exercise your skills if you know the particular technique

  • ask for advice or feedback on anything and everything

  • learn what the Creativity Gym is all about

  • have a relaxing after-work drink in an unconventional atmosphere

After the session you'll be more confident in generating ideas – Promise!

Lab@2x.png

The Creativity Lab is for people who want to deep dive into a certain creativity or design technique or topic. Join a 4 hours workshop and deepen a creative mindset. We’ll cover various skills that you can use in your personal and professional life. The groups are small and the workshops interactive.

This Lab’s theme: Designing your Life

This particular Lab - “Designing your life” - trains the design thinking thinking techniques and a designer’s mindset that you can apply for your private and professional life.

The hands-on tools your learn allow you to:

  • explore and assess your situation as starting point for designing our life,

  • gaing insights on themes you want to focus on,

  • generate ideas and novel paths for personal and/or professional development that you might have overlooked so far,

  • write down ideas for prototypes that you can apply for growth and self-development.

The Goal

The main goal is to exercise hands-on design thinking tools for a quite important project: your life. The tools, however, can be applied for other areas, too.

BOOKMARKED is a bi-monthly gathering to explore selected readings that amplifies our imagination and widens our perspectives through discussions.

OUR BOOK CLUB

The gym’s book club - BOOKMARKED - is running down in bi-monthly intervals. We decide for a book and meet up to discuss it in a 2-2,5 hours session.

The books we select are meant to foster imagination and/or support us with our creative process. Through discussion we widen our perspective and learn new points of view.

The book clubs are moderated by us and designed to trigger inspiring discussions.

THE BOOK

Jake Knapp - Make time: How to Focus on What Matters Every Day

content.jpeg

What if you could step off the hamster wheel and start taking control of your time and attention? As creators of Google Ventures' renowned 'design sprint', Jake and John have helped hundreds of teams solve important problems by changing how they work. Building on the success of these sprints and their experience designing ubiquitous tech products like Gmail and YouTube, they spent years experimenting with their own personal habits and routines, looking for ways to help individuals optimize their energy, focus, and time. Now they've packaged the most effective tactics into a four-step daily framework that anyone can use to systematically design their days.Making time isn't about radically overhauling your lifestyle; it's about making small shifts in your environment to liberate yourself from constant busyness and distraction. Make Time is a must-read for anyone who has ever thought 'if only there were more hours in the day...'
